Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SBA 7(a), 504, and Express?

The 7(a) loan is the most flexible and covers working capital, acquisitions, and refinancing. The 504 loan is built for real estate and large fixed assets. SBA Express has a faster lender decision and lower loan limits.

How long does an SBA loan take?

Typically 4 to 12 weeks from a complete application to funding. Having your documents ready at the start is the biggest thing that speeds it up.

Do I need collateral?

SBA lenders take available collateral, but a lack of collateral alone is not supposed to be the reason for a decline. Owners with 20% or more of the business generally sign a personal guarantee.
